Alison joined the Players in 1979 until 2005 when she moved away. She’s now returned to Derby and is enjoying being back on the stage. She was once a nominee for Best Actress in the Derby Amateur Theatre Eagle Awards. She has directed in the past and, as a keen seamstress, she oversees the making of our costumes.
Cathy dabbled with Chellaston Players in 2002, but joined fully in 2011. Passionate about amateur theatre, her first love is acting, and she has appeared in several productions over the years. In 2011, she was nominated for an Eagle Award for her part in Hound of the Baskervilles.
Lanie has over 30 years’ worth of experience within the Amateur Dramatic community and has been with us for more than 15 years. Although she has acted, she prefers to be backstage doing the jobs that help to keep the group going. Lanie enjoys directing and is also in charge of Child Protection and Safeguarding
Jane joined us in 2017 and comes from a family with a long theatrical tradition. She is in charge of our props and is to be found backstage at most of our productions.
Charlotte joined us in 2023 in time for our 2024 panto ‘The Princess and the Pea.’ She grew up in her local amateur drama group as the youngest of 3 generations involved at the time, performing for the first time at aged 7. Although she loves the spotlight, she also has a real passion for nurturing the next generation, with a strong belief that local drama has made her the person she is today.
Katherine’s first production with Chellaston Players was ‘Mother Goose’ in 2007. She took a few years off for school and university, where she performed in ‘Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat’. In 2015 she re-joined the Players and has taken part in plays and pantos ever since.
Mick joined us in 1978 and has appeared in numerous plays since. Mick wrote the pantomime Aladdin in 1984 and we have continued to perform a pantomime annually since; many of his pantomimes have been published. He has also directed numerous plays and adapted productions such as Watership Down and two versions of Vicar of Dibley. He is a past Chairman and very active committee member. He has a BA in Theatre for which he studied after his retirement. He was honoured to be presented with a lifetime achievement award for services to Amateur Theatre by the Derby
Sammy has been apart of Chellaston Players for 11 years with her first role being a guard in Watership Down before being cast as Principal Boy in The Three Musketeers, she then took some time away to study drama at university. Sammy has been performing since she was 6 years old, with both amateur and professional accolades under her belt such as ‘Stage Combat’ and ‘Best Newcomer in Musical Theatre’. Over the past few years Sammy has thrown herself into a variety of roles within Chellaston Players, including in 2024 co writing and directing the pantomime “Jack and the Beanstalk”.
